STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

Student code of conduct: Effective November, 23rd 2025

I

 

All students must treat instructors, staff, and peers with dignity, courtesy, and professionalism at all times. AFI English is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment where every learner can participate without fear of ridicule, discrimination, or harassment.

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited on AFI’s platform (website), third-party learning platforms (such as Zoom), and all AFI community spaces (including social media). Violations may result in removal from classes, loss of platform access, or termination of services:

1. Verbal Abuse & Insults
   •    Using insulting, demeaning, or hostile language toward another student or instructor
   •    Shouting, name-calling, or intentionally disrupting the learning environment
   •    Sarcastic or mocking tones aimed at humiliating another person

2. Harassment (Written, Verbal, or Digital)
   •    Sending harassing, threatening, or persistent unwanted messages in chat or private communication
   •    Attempting to intimidate, embarrass, or provoke another learner
   •    Targeting someone repeatedly with negative comments, even in “jokes”

3. Discrimination or Bias-Based Misconduct
Any conduct that targets individuals or groups based on protected characteristics, including but not limited to:
   •    Mocking or criticizing a student’s accent, fluency, or language background
   •    Racist or xenophobic language, including stereotypes, “jokes,” slurs, or coded language
   •    Sexual comments, innuendo, inappropriate gestures, or any form of sexual harassment
   •    Homophobia, transphobia, or anti-LGBTQ+ speech or behavior
   •    Religious harassment, mocking beliefs, or pressuring others to adopt specific beliefs
   •    Disability-related jokes, harassment, or derogatory remarks

4. Disruptive or Unsafe Behavior
   •    Intentionally derailing class discussions
   •    Sharing graphic, obscene, or harmful content
   •    Attempting to solicit personal information from minors or other students

AFI English Zero-Tolerance Policy

AFI English reserves the right to suspend or remove any student who violates these standards. Maintaining a respectful, welcoming environment for all learners is essential to the integrity of our educational mission.

Respect & Conduct Standards

Work submitted must reflect the student’s own effort. Cheating, plagiarism, or misrepresentation undermines the learning process.

Examples of Violations:

 

  • Submitting homework copied from another student.

  • Using AI or translation software to complete an exam without disclosure.

  • Pretending another person’s work is your own.

Academic Integrity

 Students are expected to maintain professionalism in attendance, punctuality, and class participation.

Examples of Violations:

 

  • Repeatedly arriving late or leaving class early.

  • Failing to notify the instructor of planned absences.

  • Distracting others by not engaging, playing music, or multitasking during lessons.

Professional Behavior

AFI English strictly prohibits the use of any AFI platform, website, classroom, chat, or community space for personal solicitation, advertising, or commercial promotion.
Learners, visitors, and instructors may not solicit business, recruit clients, promote external services, or distribute marketing materials without explicit written authorization from AFI English. Violations may result in immediate removal from classes, account suspension, or permanent termination of access.

Platform Use

AFI English provides educational tools, lesson spaces, and communication features solely for the purpose of language learning, community building and academic support.
Users agree to use the platform responsibly, avoid disruptive behavior, and comply with all instructions provided by instructors, or AFI representatives. Any misuse, including harassment, spam, plagiarism, attempts to bypass security, or use of the platform for illegal activity, may result in suspension, termination, and or legal action.

Age Compliance

AFI English is primarily designed for adult learners age 18+. Minors may participate only with verifiable parental or legal guardian consent, including approval of all bookings and oversight of all lessons. AFI requests proof of age ensure compliance. If we determine that a user is underage and does not have proper authorization, we reserve the right to immediately restrict or delete the account for safety reasons. Certain chat, community and profile features are disabled by default for all persons under 18 yers of age.

Recording Restrictions

To protect privacy and intellectual property, AFI English does not permit students or visitors to record lessons, take screenshots, or distribute AFI materials/content without written permission. AFI may record sessions for quality assurance, safety, accessibility, AI translation, lesson review, or marketing (with explicit written consent from all parties if an image or video of the student is taken.) All recordings are stored securely and are not shared publicly without explicit consent. Unauthorized recording may result in legal action, denied refunds, and permanent removal from AFI services.

AI Policy

AFI English may use AI tools for teaching support, automated transcription, translation, quality improvement, or personalized learning recommendations. AI may analyze lesson performance, generate study materials, or assist with administrative tasks, but it does not replace human instruction. By using AFI services, you consent to limited AI-assisted processing of lesson data as described in our Privacy Policy. Users may not upload harmful, illegal, or sensitive content into any AI-powered feature, nor attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or misuse AI systems. Additionally, students may only use AI only when authorized by an instructor beforehand.

IX. Intellectual Property & Content Protection

All AFI English content is protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable intellectual-property laws. This includes, but is not limited to, lesson materials, slides, worksheets, downloadable PDFs, videos, course designs, branding, logos, recorded sessions, templates, digital products, website content, and any materials created by AFI English or provided through the website, social media communication platforms, socials & content library. By enrolling or using the Service, you agree to the following:

1. No Reproduction or Redistribution
You may not copy, reproduce, screenshot, record, distribute, upload, repost, or otherwise share AFI Materials, whether free or paid, without explicit written permission from AFI English. This includes posting materials on social media, forums, file-sharing sites, Discord, WhatsApp, or any public or private online group.

2. No Removal of Branding or Watermarks
You may not remove, obscure, edit, crop out, or alter AFI English logos, watermarks, design elements, or copyright notices on any materials, digital or printed.

3. Personal-Use License Only
Students receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use AFI Materials for their own personal learning only. You may not sell, resell, sub-license, or use AFI Materials to teach others, create competing products, or develop derivative works.

4. Downloadable Content Is Still Protected
Even if you download a file (PDF, worksheet, video, audio, etc.), it remains the intellectual property of AFI English. Downloading does not grant ownership or redistribution rights.

5. Prohibited Uses Include:
   •    Uploading AFI worksheets to Google Drive for others
   •    Sharing PDFs with friends, family members, or co-workers
   •    Using AFI lesson materials to teach your own students
   •    Posting clips of lessons, recordings, or slides online
   •    Using AFI branding or logos without permission
   •    Using AFI content to train AI models or similar tools

6. Consequences
Violations of this policy may result in:
   •    Immediate suspension or termination of your account
   •    Revocation of access to all purchased courses or materials
   •    Legal action for copyright infringement
   •    Liability for damages and legal fees

AFI English reserves all rights not expressly granted in these Terms.
